Mario's holiday and tour cards gallery
End of the World Tour 2012
This is a shot of me in the not so distant future wandering alone in a post-apocalyptic nightmare looking for 'juice' (which is what they believed in the 80's we would call fuel during the post-apocalypse) (they could not have been more right).
Season's Greetings 2006
This drawing by the amazing Arlene Texta Queen was part of a series of performer portraits that she made with texta (otherwise known as 'felt tip') markers on poster size paper while I posed in a Williamsburg Gallery... I know, right? Soooo 2006!
Season's Greetings 2007
The original idea of Mario with a 'normal' happy family was turned on its ear and into something creepy and hilarious by photographer Jo duck who put my face on everyone. This in turn inspired me to just use my real family for this Holiday portrait.
World Tour 2007
On a beautiful beach in Thailand, I posed for this gorgeous picture by Mette Louise Skov. my old friend Gabriella Gasparini drew the sand writing in post. The boat writing was just lucky. Nowadays I'd be wearing my jacket out there as my level of dedication has since ramped to fanatical.
Season's Greetings 2008
My first production shoot although similar in build to David 'Bath Boy' O'mer and Yulia 'Hulia' Pykhtina, these were actual gifts based on their likeness from Herr Drosselmeyer, my godfather. Piers Allardyce shot the hell out of us!
World Tour 2008
Archive photo of the good ol' days, no Gabriella Gaspirini artistry necessary.
Season's Greetings 2009
The British Blizzard of 2009 was a disaster for everybody but me. With London in a standstill all around, I frolicked in Soho Square and built this happy Snow Mario with help from Frodo, Helen, Trent and Agathe and had the best day ever!
World Tour 2009
After years of traveling the world I chose this design so I could showcase my intimate knowledge of kitschy tourist destination cards. Hamish McCann worked tirelessly to put that rope through that anchor. Archive fotos of me in Brazil, Canada, Scotland and Australia did the rest.
Season's Greetings 2010
The biggest production to date thanks to Sean Young and the Brisbane Massive. Special thanks to Polytoxic, Shoot the Town Red, Helen Cassidy and a two week old Blake Cassidy McFarlane. I have since seen my themes explored here copied all over the world: babies, royalty, Angels, farm animals, it just WORKS!
World Tour 2010
Helen Cassidy took this one at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane, Oz. The Koala's named 'Rocco'.
Season's Greetings 2011
14 year old Mario fan Anton Silvestrovich sent this through and was just perfect for the Holiday Card. I am a long time fan of Legos and now a new fan of Anton's.
World Tour 2011
It was a huge mistake with cultural ramifications they never dreamed possible when in 1969 I was not cast in the movie Easy Rider instead of Dennis Hopper. FOOLS!! In this tour card I did my best to begin to rectify this and start the healing.
